Spring at the University of Washington is one of the most beautiful times of the year in Seattle. Red and pink petals from the blossoming Yoshino cherry trees gently rain down onto the Liberal Arts Quadrangle or “the Quad”. On a clear day, as the sun peeks out from the clouds, the campus is abuzz with locals, tourists and some of the 30,000 undergraduate students.

Another magical view is lingering on the steps leading to “Red Square” to see the snow capped 14,411-foot volcano, Mt. Rainier. Red Square is one of the spots on campus where clubs set up tables, protests take place and talent performs. On a sunny day, students take advantage of the sun and study on the rolling verdant lawns.

Everywhere you look the exquisite collegiate-gothic architecture reminds one of walking around Cambridge or Oxford in England.  The Suzzallo Library is one of the campus’ most memorable landmarks. Known as the “soul of the university,” the building’s second-floor showcases an impressive 65-foot-high, 52-foot-wide and 250-foot-long Reading Room. Oak bookcases, long tables, and large hanging lamps is a favorite setting for students seeking quiet study.

In the morning this is a spacious health club featuring a heated indoor pool, sun deck, cardio and weight equipment. Afterward, guests can go to the second floor to receive a free hot and cold breakfast in the morning and a complimentary evening reception with beer, wine, cocktails and snacks.

A visit to Seattle must include a walk through Pikes Place, a public market filled with fresh flowers, farm fresh produce and flying fish.
