Avengers: Endgame wasn’t just a film, but an emotional ride for all Marvel fans that concluded with a bittersweet ending. But if you think that Marvel has closed the chapter and moved on with its recent releases (Black Widow and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings), then you’re wrong, as the giant production house is all set to take MCU fans on another journey with its upcoming project, Eternals. Helmed by Chloe Zhao, the upcoming movie will introduce the audience to a new set of superheroes, featuring an ensemble star cast comprising of Angelina Jolie, Gemma Chan, Salma Hayek, Kit Harrington, Richard Madden, Kumail Nanjiani, Lauren Ridloff, Don Lee, Barry Keoghan, Harish Patel, and Brian Tyree Henry.
While the final trailer of Eternals suggests that the new superheroes will battle Deviants, who are able to return to Earth as an unexpected consequence of Avengers’ actions (bringing back the lost population of Earth in Avengers: Endgame) the presence of Game of Thrones popular actor Kit Harington as a non-Eternal has been quite a topic of discussion. With reports suggesting that the 34-year-old English actor will essay the role of Dave Whiteman, fans have been wondering if the film will also focus on his transformation into the Black Knight.
With the trailer giving us a glimpse of Sersi(Gemma Chan) and Dane Whiteman’s romantic relationship, Harington’s character has sparked off numerous fan theories while the production team continues to keep the character details under wraps. But in a recent interview, Eternals producer Nate Moore revealed that Whitman won’t feature as Black Knight in the upcoming movie, but teased fans with a promising future for Black Knight in MCU. “You won’t see the Ebony Blade in this movie. He’s not going to be a Black Knight necessarily, but that is something that we get to play with down the road,” Moore said.
While the latest update suggests that Harington won’t be donning the Black Knight’s armour in Eternals, but fans can expect the GOT star to reprise the role of Dane Whiteman in a future Marvel project that would focus on Black Knight. Meanwhile, the Academy Award-winning director recently revealed that Eternals would be one of the longest duration films in MCU.
