War is one of the finest examples of movies that do action and entertainment well. The Yash Raj film obviously left the cash registers ringing when it was released. But more than that it also left fans and critics impressed and invested in the universe. Which is why the reports about sequels took off the ground quicker than it does, leaving everyone wanting for more. Mostly thanks to Shroff’s swift moves (while dancing and fighting goons) and Roshan’s guns that had even left Shroff’s character and his entire female following drooling after him.

Earlier, Shroff had opened up about reuniting with his screen-idol, after joking he is ready to become background dancer for War 2 if he has to, and had said, “War just took off to another level, and I’ve to admit sharing screen space with my idol Hrithik Sir was an experience I will cherish all my life. He has been an inspiration all my life. And to now observe him from such close quarters was a learning experience. As for bringing my character back, all I will say at the moment is, you didn’t see my body in War, did you? There are many ways to manoeuvre the script to accommodate both of us.” But nothing was confirmed. Well, up until now!
That’s right; War 2 has officially gotten a go! Director Siddharth Anand, in an interview with Midday, revealed that the film which complete two years recently will go on floors next year. “We knew that if War works, we will make a sequel. [Aditya Chopra, producer] and I have shared some thoughts on how to take it forward. We will hopefully start it by next year. War 2 is a big responsibility, and we need normalcy [to be restored] before we can dive into it.”
However, he is not yet ready to confirm whether the cast will be back to revive their roles and said that while “Hrithik has such a sharp mind that he will give you the correct perspective on the script, even if he doesn’t do the film. Tiger is tremendously focused”, the makers haven’t sealed the deal. “We have not yet thought whether Hrithik and Tiger will come back, or whether we’ll rope in a different cast.” Not just that he also acknowledged the rumours about South superstar Prabhas of entering the universe as the villain. “I am curious [to know whether he is on board], but I don’t know whom to ask about it.”
Meanwhile, Anand is all set to bring Roshan and Deepika Padukone together for the first time with his most ambitious project, Fighter. Dubbed as India’s first aerial actioner, the film which is being mounted on a budget of 250 crores is being is being produced by his banner Marflix has found a studio partner in Viacom18. It is also being said that Roshan will play the part of an air force officer for the first time. And while Padukone’s character is completely under wraps, their coming together is being touted as a big spectacle and one that will be “a blend of action and thrill with a strong undercurrent of nationalism, romance and emotions.”

“The script, Hrithik and I played a crucial role in Deepika saying yes to the project. It is a director’s dream to have these two actors in a film. She will be seen doing action too. The film is centred on the Indian Air Force, and we have tried to stay as authentic as possible,” Anand added.
