The SpaceX sensei is literally slicing left and right with his two-edged tweets. Latest victim being former number one and currently the third richest in the world – Microsoft founder Bill Gates. A leaked chat between Musk and Gates seems to suggest that Gates had allegedly shorted Tesla stock by half a billion dollars!

Twitterati named ‘Whole Mars Blog’ posted screen shots of the leaked exchange between the world’s richest duo. The message doesn’t seem to end on a good note as Bill asks Elon to drop in some penny for philanthropy for Climate Change. Evidently Elon Musk doesn’t take the climate change campaign seriously. He seemed more miffed about Gates shorting his Tesla stocks than some iceberg melting somewhere. Gates has earlier criticised Tesla and electric vehicles as detrimental to climate change. Bill Gates is also critical of Bitcoins of which Musk is an avid proponent (including memecoins).
So apparently Bill Gates hit up @elonmusk to discuss “philanthropy on climate change” but Elon asked if he still had a half billion dollar short position on $TSLA.

Confirming the leaked chats to be genuine, Musk stated that he didn’t leak it to the NYT. He also seemed livid by Bill Gates offensive manoeuvre . Musk remarked that this is not exactly a top secret in the industry.
Yeah, but I didn’t leak it to NYT. They must have got it through friends of friends.
I heard from multiple people at TED that Gates still had half billion short against Tesla, which is why I asked him, so it’s not exactly top secret.

This is such an unfortunate tweet by someone I otherwise have tremendous respect for.
Many will now think it’s OK to publicly bully those around them. If the richest man in the world does it, it must be OK, right? Bill Gates can handle it. Others not so much.
