Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli have been very guarded about sharing photos of their daughter Vamika and understandably so. For a celebrity couple that is constantly in the public eye, they have managed to keep things private pretty well until now. During a cricket match broadcast from South Africa where team India is playing, Vamika’s face was revealed as she was spotted along with mother Anushka Sharma at the stands. The footage and photo from the match have since gone viral and immediately fans wondered if the celebrity parents had given their approval. Turns out, they were “caught off guard” and had not consented to the video and images being shared.
After photos of Vamika started doing the rounds of social media, Anushka Sharma has responded to the debacle. Addressing the incident, she revealed that she wasn’t aware that the camera was on her during the match broadcast. In an Instagram story, she explained – “Hi guys, we realise that our daughter’s images were captured at the stadium yesterday and widely shared thereafter. We want to inform everyone that we were caught off guard and didn’t know that the camera was on us. Our stance and request on the matter stays the same. We would really appreciate if Vamika’s images and not clicked/published for reasons we have explained earlier. Thank you!”
Virat Kohli also shared the statement:

This is precisely what netizens had suspected when the photos first came out. Fans have been demanding that the privacy of Virat and Anushka be respected by the media and the masses.

If there’s anything we’ve learnt about paparazzi in the past few years, it’s that they are obsessed with celebrity babies (think of all the craze around Taimur). However, the Indian media seems to have respected Virat and Anushka’s privacy so far. In fact, the actress had recently thanked the press for not publishing Vamika’s photos all this while. Besides, the couple’s fans are pretty strong supporters. Hopefully, the buzz around this will die down and they can have their privacy back.
Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli tied the knot back in 2017 and welcomed their first child Vamika in January 2021.
