It seems like WhatsApp is reportedly working on a new feature and this functionality was spotted by WABetaInfo in the WhatsApp Desktop beta version (build 2.2201.2). The beta is open to anyone who wants to try out new features before they are released to the general public.

According to the site, the latest beta version of WhatsApp Desktop substitutes the stop button with a new pause button while recording a voice note. So, how is this useful, you might wonder. Some folks are extremely slow talkers, while others drone on and on, seemingly unconcerned about your time. Don’t let yourself become one of them. That’s where voice notes with pauses come in handy: You may quickly preview the recording before transmitting it, or you can delete it and restart or resume recording.

The enhanced recording experience is currently being handed out to Mac users who are enrolled in WhatsApp Desktop’s beta edition. In future beta releases, the feature should become more broadly available to beta testers.

WhatsApp will make the option to pause and restart voice notes public once it is out of beta. Regrettably, no one knows how long it will take for everyone to get it. If history is any guide, the deployment should be finished in a matter of days. WhatsApp for iPhone and Mac already has the option to preview voice notes before sending them.

The messaging service, which is owned by Meta, is also testing a new feature in the iPhone app that allows you to listen to an audio message while multitasking in another chat thread. Users will be able to get help via a chat with a verified WhatsApp account, which is currently in beta testing. The capability was discovered in a recent WhatsApp beta version for iOS and Android, and it is likely to be rolled out to users at a later date. According to the feature tracker, WhatsApp is also testing new animations for heart emoji to complement the red heart animated emoticon on the current WhatsApp beta version 22.2.72 for iOS users.
