Even with everything going on in the Marvel Cinematic Universe at present, it’s impossible not to anticipate titles that are months away. Thor: Love and Thunder arrives in July this year and details from the film have been scarce. Directed by Taika Waititi who returns after the success of Thor: Ragnarok and starring Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tessa Thompson and more, the film is all set to introduce Mighty Thor while furthering the arc of Hemsworth’s God of Thunder. So far, only the logo of the film has been revealed. Everything else is pretty much under wraps. That is precisely why a look at the new costumes from the film has garnered attention. Thor 4 merch is out and we have our closest look at the characters’ looks from the movie.
Marvel has revealed official Thor: Love and Thunder merchandise that showcase Natalie Portman’s Mighty Thor in a comic-accurate costume holding a cracked Mjölnir. Meanwhile, Christ Hemsworth’s Thor toy is in a blue suit. While the former’s movie look fits right into the visuals of the previous Thor films we’ve seen, the latter’s costume is even more colourful than expected. The studio has also confirmed these movie looks. Marvel said, “Ahead of the release of Marvel Studios’ Thor: Love and Thunder, LEGO has revealed the first building set inspired by the upcoming film,” in a recent release. It added, “That’s not the only brand new item revealed for the upcoming fourth Thor film. During a segment on Good Morning America, viewers also got a glimpse of some brand new Hasbro figures and toys, including three new additions to the Titan Hero Series and battle FX roleplay items.”
In the absence of the official teasers and posters from Thor: Love and Thunder, these will have to do. The upcoming film is said to draw inspiration from the popular ‘Mighty Thor’ comic book run. It is expected to take on a fresh new direction as Taika Waititi has spilt that it will be “very romantic”. It will also introduce new characters to the MCU including Christian Bale as Gorr the God Butcher.
Thor: Love and Thunder will release on July 8, 2022.
