World’s favorite superhero Superman has landed in trouble after flying off to Kashmir and depicting it as ‘disputed’ in DC’s new animated film Injustice. Or so it seems. While the official synopsis hints that an “unthinkable tragedy propels Superman into a dangerous new mindset, ultimately pitting Justice League members against each other”, a video of Man of Steel destroying military equipment with Wonder Woman has angered a lot of Indian fans online. The video doesn’t come directly from DC but it is making the rounds and triggering people for being ‘anti-Indian’. And even though there is no mention of India or Pakistan, the presence of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir has riled up Twitter users.

In the video, the narrators can be heard saying, “Superman stopped a genocidal war the government of m’gota has been waging against its own people. In disputed Kashmir, Superman and Wonder Woman destroyed every piece of military equipment, declaring it an arms-free zone.” Later evern Superman, seemingly in front of flags of flags of Israel and Palestine, can be seen urging two representatives to “agree to the terms, or they will be agreed to for you.” See for yourself.

The act of portraying Kashmir as undisputed is getting slammed for being ‘anti-Indian’. Many have also pointed out the sorry state of Afghanistan and USA’s role in the same. Others are calling a ban on the film in India.

While that is that, it is imperative to note that India does not fly US-made F-18 Hornets and Super Hornets. So, chances are it is all fictitious! But guess it was enough to rub people the wrong way.

Meanwhile, Injustice–inspired by a video game, Injustice: God Among Us and Tom Taylor’s graphic novel based on the video game, Injustice: God Among Us: Year One–released in 4K, blu-ray, and digital formats on October 19. It is produced by Warner Bros. Animation, DC and Warner Bros. Home Entertainment.
