In the 1993 Ashes test series, a young boy from Victoria bowled the English batsman Mike Gatting with his first ever delivery. Yes, we are talking about the legendary leg spinner Shane Warner who became a nightmare for some of the greatest batsmen in world cricket during his career. All the cricket fans from different parts of the world were shocked when they came to know that this Australian legend is no more.

Just 12 hours before his death, Sharne Warne went to twitter and paid homage to the former Australian cricketer Rodney Marsh, who died in Adelaide at the age of 74. This tweet went viral all over the internet when the news of Shane Warne’s demise broke.

Shane Warne on twitter “Sad to hear the news that Rod Marsh has passed. He was a legend of our great game and an inspiration to so many young boys and girls. Rod cared deeply about cricket and gave so much especially to Australia and England players. Sending lots and lots of love to Ros and the family. RIP mate”.

The Australian leg spinner who was also the captain of the Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League, died in Koh Samui, Thailand on 4th March due to a suspected heart attack. He played 145 test matches and 194 ODI matches for the Australian cricket team. He holds a record of taking over 1000 international wickets for his country.

His first wicket in the Ashes test match is known as the ‘Ball of the 20th century’. Shane Warne’s management team had revealed the news of his death. The statement read “Shane was found unresponsive in his villa and despite the best efforts of medical staff, he could not be revived”. The note further read “The family requests privacy at this time and will provide further details in due course”.

Shane Warner was a legend and will always be remembered for his contribution to world cricket.
