After the enormous success of Ajay Devgn’s ‘Singham’ outings, filmmaker Rohit Shetty expanded his cop universe by introducing Ranveer Singh as ‘Simmba’ in 2018 and followed it up with recently released ‘Sooryavanshi’. And given the immense success of the Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif starrer in the domestic and international circuit, the ace filmmaker seems pretty motivated to further explore his cop universe.

Shetty, who is currently focussed on completing the post-production work of his next project ‘Cirkus’ starring Ranveer, Pooja Hegde and Jacqueline Fernandez, the 47-year-old director is all set to come up with a sequel of ‘Simmba’ soon. Confirming the news, Ranveer told Bollywood Life, “God willing it’ll definitely happen. It was always intended to become a franchise and I think whenever Rohit sir wants to make Simmba 2, I’ll be game because Simmba is my favourite character to play.”

Ranveer, who had reprised the role of Sangram Bhalerao aka Simmba in ‘Sooryavanshi’ is pretty ‘ecstatic’ about the ‘Simmba’ sequel, as he gets another opportunity to essay his favourite character on the silver screen once more. “He’s so mischievous, so bratty, he has these wisecracks and one-liners and plays to the gallery and is so flamboyant and so endearing and so tough at the same time. I love being Simmba,” Ranveer said while talking about his character.

While Shetty has already confirmed the third instalment of Ajay Devgn’s ‘Singham’, it will be interesting to see how the maverick filmmaker carries forward with his popular characters. Meanwhile, Shetty’s ‘Cirkus’ which is an official adaptation of the 1982 movie ‘Angoor’ is currently slated to release on July 15, 2022.

Meanwhile, on the other hand, Ranveer has already started filming for Karan Johar’s next ‘Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani’ with Alia Bhatt. The charismatic actor also has other interesting projects like ‘Jayeshbhai Jordaar’ and Shankar’s Hindi remake of the Tamil film ‘Anniyan’ in the pipeline.
