On Friday night, Priyanka Chopra announced the joyful news that she and her husband Nick Jonas have welcomed their first baby via surrogacy. The couple who tied the knot back in 2018 shared that they are “overjoyed” and asked for privacy as they start a family together. The news came as a total surprise especially since the celebrities had previously given no statements about it, at least publicly. While fans were caught off guard, a few people noticed that Priyanka Chopra had actually hinted at the news back in November 2021 at the Jonas Brothers Family Roast. No kidding!

During the Jonas Brothers special which streamed on Netflix, Priyanka joked about “expecting” a baby and we didn’t even realise it. It all makes perfect sense now. In her roast of Nick Jonas, she talked about starting a family. “I love that I married a man who, like myself, values family. If you don’t know, we’re the only couple who doesn’t have kids yet. Which is why I’m excited to make this announcement. Sorry, babe. We’re expecting,” Priyanka had said. Before Nick could react, the actress finished the sentence saying “…to get drunk tonight and sleep in tomorrow!”

Now that’s really sneaky. Fans are pretty impressed with how smooth Priyanka was with her announcement hit. And honestly, it’s not our fault for not getting it, she’s one hell of an actor.

Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas have been asked a lot of questions about starting a family ever since they got married. In previous interviews, Priyanka has maintained that kids were a part of the plan. “They [kids] are a big part of our desire for the future. By God’s grace, when it happens, it happens,” she said in a Vanity Fair interview earlier this month.

Well, we wish Priyanka and Nick a hearty congratulations on the baby and on pulling off the massive teaser undetected.
