Every now and then, a meme-worthy image crops up and spreads like wildfire on the internet. That’s precisely what happened when a Pakistani actor shared a picture which literally has fire in the background. Adnan Siddiqui a well-known actor unwittingly went viral for posting a selfie with fire raging in a distance behind him. In it, he can be seen wearing shades with little regard for the flames. His nonchalant pic was deemed instantly relatable by netizens who are quite thrilled with the fresh meme template. If the disastrous start of 2022 was an image, it would probably look a lot like this.
Turns out, all that fire and smoke is from burning narcotics and other substances that were confiscated by the country’s Customs authorities – liquor, cigarettes, betel nuts, contraband. In his Instagram post, Adnan Siddiqui explained what the whole debacle was about with an important message against the use of drugs. That’s where it all began:

This photo also has major ‘Disaster Girl’ energy. The hilarious and timeless (the photo is 12 years old now) meme template sees a young girl smiling while a house in the background burned. It garnered enough popularity to be sold as an NFT for a whopping $500,000 as per multiple reports. Netizens had a gala time drawing comparisons with Siddiqui’s fire-filled selfie:
