Chandigarh-based actor/model Harnaaz Sandhu created history earlier this week by winning the prestigious Miss Universe crown at the Universe Dome in Eilat, Israel. She not only brought the crown back home after almost two decades but also joined the league of Sushmita Sen and Lara Dutta, who have also achieved the feat in 1994 and 2000, respectively. While proud Indian fans continue to celebrate Sandhu’s historic win, they have also been busy criticising event host Steve Harvey for asking the beauty pageant winner to impersonate a cat on the Miss Universe platform.
While other contenders were quizzed about their accomplishments during the QnA session, Sandhu was asked to do her best animal impersonation (meow) before moving head with the real question. “I hear you do some pretty good animal impersonations. Let’s hear your best one,” Harvey said. Responding to Harvey’s request, Sandhu said, “Oh my god, Steve, I was not expecting to do this on the world stage. I have to do this, I have no other option,” before impersonating a cat.

Needless to say, furious fans slammed Harvey for his ill-mannered hosting on the international platform. While a Twitter user shared the clip and expressed her views on social media, which within no time went viral on the internet, garnering a huge response from other Twitter users. Meanwhile, previous Miss Universe winners Sushmita Sen and Lara Dutta welcomed Sandhu to the club with adorable congratulatory notes. Apart from them, many other Bollywood celebrities and fans took to their respective social media handle to congratulate and celebrate Sandhu’s historic win.
