MediaTek Launches The New Dimensity 9000 To Take On Snapdragon

Recently, chipset maker MediaTek has launched its flagship chipset, the Dimensity 9000. The new chipset is comparable to the Snapdragon 8 Gen1. The Dimensity 9000 is built on the TSMCN4 process and offers the same architecture as the Snapdragon 8 Gen1. MediaTek has announced the first set of devices that will be equipped with Dimensity 9000 and will be introduced in the first quarter of next year. Oppo, Vivo, Xiaomi, and Honor are some of the manufacturers that have been confirmed to have this new chipset.

“The Dimensity 9000 is a milestone for MediaTek, highlighting our rise to incredible with a true flagship 5G smartphone chip. This chip signals MediaTek and our Dimensity family has entered a new phase of innovation,” said Dr. Yenchi Lee, Deputy General Manager of MediaTek’s Wireless Communications Business Unit.

“The Dimensity 9000 is the most powerful and energy-efficient chip to date, delivering a number of industry firsts and a full suite of features for the most discerning tech enthusiasts,” he was further quoted saying.

Dimensity 9000 integrates the Armv9 CPU architecture, which the company claims will help provide a groundbreaking experience. The octa-core CPU has one super Cortex-X2 core running at up to 3.05GHz, three A710 cores running at up to 2.85GHz, and four efficient Cortex-A510 cores. Dimensity 9000 is integrated with LPDDR5X that supports data speed up to 7500Mbps, along with 8MB L3 cache and 6MB system cache.

The chipset integrates the fifth generation MediaTek Application Processor Unit (APU 5.0), which delivers 4X power efficiency gains over the previous generation APU.

Coming to graphics, the MediaTek Dimensity 9000 is built on Arm Mali-G710 MC10 GPU. The HyperEngine 5.0 chipset from MediaTek integrates the fifth generation of MediaTek gaming technology. MediaTek claims that HyperEngine 5.0 uses AI acceleration to improve graphics while reducing GPU overload.

HyperEngine also integrates AI-VRS, the first AI-optimized variable rate shader technology for smartphones, along with the Ray Tracking Software Development Kit (SDK) using Vulkan for Android.

The new chipset can support 320MP camera modules on smartphones, and can also support HDR video recording with an 18-bit simultaneous triple camera.

The chipset supports 144Hz WQHD+ displays or Full HD+ 180Hz displays and to improve power consumption, MediaTek has equipped the chipset with Intelligent Display Sync 2.0 technology. Moreover, MediaTek’s latest Wi-Fi display technology can support up to 4K60 HDR10+ video.
