Actress Kristen Stewart has been quite busy with the promotions of her upcoming movie Spencer, but given the immense buzz surrounding Matt Reeves’ The Batman starring Robert Pattinson (thanks to the recently held DC FanDome), the American actress was quizzed about the fan-made internet campaign yearning to see her essay the role of Joker opposite her ex-boyfriend. While Stewart’s willingness to experiment with her on-screen characters and the idea of stepping in the shoes of the iconic character left her in a dilemma for a second, but the talented actress looked quite confident turning down the scheme.

Stewart, who was in a relationship with Pattinson for a couple of years, teamed up with her then-boyfriend on multiple occasions, and the two wowed the audience with their impeccable chemistry. However, the 31-year-old actress turned down the idea of playing Joker opposite Pattinson’s Batman politely. “I love the energy behind it, but it’s really been done so well. I feel like, maybe, we don’t traipse over, but I love that gusto. Let’s figure something else out. I’m totally down to play a freaky and scary person,” Stewart told Variety.

While many actors (in the past) like Jack Nicholson, Heath Ledger, Jared Leto and Joaquin Phoenix have essayed the role won the Academy Award, Stewart didn’t shut down the idea (completely), but proposed to try something new.

Meanwhile, Pablo Larrain’s upcoming movie Spencer that debuted at Venice and Telluride earlier, left the audience fascinated, as Stewart’s account of Princess Diana was too good to go unnoticed. With fans already hailing her performance in the trailer Oscar-worthy, the biographical drama is all set to release in theatres on November 5. On the other hand, Pattison’s The Batman, which also stars Zoe Kravitz, Colin Farrell, Andy Serkis, Jeffrey Wright and Paul Dano will premiere on March 4, 2022.
