Here are the 2022 Oscar Nominations

The nominations for the 94th Academy Awards are finally here, bringing with them their usual share of surprises, snubs, and reminders to check out more of 2021’s best movies.

Dune and The Power of The Dog lead this year’s pack of Oscar hopefuls. Denis Villeneuve’s desert epic received 10 nominations, while Campion’s Western racked up a whopping 12, including Best Picture and Best Director. Campion is the first woman to be nominated twice for Best Director — her first nomination was for 1993’s The Piano. Other films up for Best Picture include Don’t Look Up and West Side Story.

Elsewhere, the Academy recognized international films in several categories other than Best International Feature Film. Ryûsuke Hamaguchi’s Drive My Car is nominated for Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Adapted Screenplay. The Worst Person in the World scored a Best Original Screenplay nomination, and Flee is up for Best Documentary Feature and Best Animated Feature.

The acting categories were the site of some major snubs and welcome surprises. Both Lady Gaga and Jared Leto were shut out for their performances in House of Gucci, while Jessie Buckley was rightfully recognized for her performance in The Lost Daughter.

To see who else is vying for a golden statuette, check out the full list of the 2022 Oscar nominations:
