Instagram was owned by Facebook in 2012 and there’s no looking back since then. Users who post regularly on social media with large audiences assist platforms like Twitch and YouTube, as well as TikTok and Instagram, to generate income, thus social media sites compete to be their favorite platforms.

In fact, in a nod to the same, Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri, in a video broadcast on Twitter, said, “Subscriptions are for creators.” While Instagram will allow some content creators in the United States to charge fans a subscription fee, while popular individuals will be able to play with a constant source of income as the site strives for online celebrities.

“Creators do what they do for a living, and it’s critical that their work is predictable.”

According to Mosseri, a small number of Instagram content creators in the United States will participate in a subscription test that will begin this week. Subscriptions for access to unique content, including live streaming, will be available for sale by the selected creators.

“We intend to enhance these features over time, since it’s critical that subscriptions be linked throughout the entire Instagram experience,” Mosseri added.

Reportedly, Mosseri also stated that the Meta-owned Instagram thinks creators should “control their relationship with subscribers. Hence it is working on ways for them to move their lists of paying admirers to apps developed by other companies.
