China, Vietnam discuss solutions to cargo congestion at border gates

Vietnamese deputy foreign affairs minister Nguyen Minh Vu recently held telephonic discussions with Chinese assistant foreign minister Wu Jianghao on measures to accelerate the cross-border circulation of goods. The talks took place amid the worsening cargo congestion at Vietnam-China land border gates and both sides agreed that the problem is causing losses.

They discussed difficulties in implementing COVID-19 prevention and control measures and promoting economic-trade recovery at the same time, and stabilising production and supply chains in the region, according to Vietnamese media reports.

Both sides agreed to urge relevant ministries, sectors and localities to seek solutions to the border cargo congestion, while continuing to strengthen cooperation in pandemic prevention and control in the border gate areas.
