Apple had a busy year in 2021, launching several category-defining devices, including an M1-powered iPad Pro, a whole new iPad mini, a new MacBook Pro lineup, the iPhone 13 series, and much more. Apple fans will have even more to look forward to in 2022, as the Cupertino company has numerous interesting items in the pipeline, including new Mac Pros, a revamped MacBook Air, a virtual reality headset, and more.

Apple is focusing on developing new Mac Pro models featuring the new M1 Pro and M1 Max CPUs that were introduced on last year’s MacBook Pro series, according to trusted Apple tipster Mark Gurman (via Bloomberg).

Apple is expected to complete the transition from its own silicon from Intel as early as June, with the range including a smaller Mac Pro with up to 40 CPU cores and 128 GPU cores, a large-screen iMac Pro, and a whole new Mac mini.

The source then goes on to discuss “the most significant MacBook Air makeover in the product’s history,” an updated entry-level MacBook Pro, and a new iPad Pro with wireless charging functionality. According to previous rumors, the 2022 MacBook Air would have a white keyboard, additional connectors, and come in a variety of colors, close to the M1-powered iMacs. In terms of smartphones, Gurman expects Apple will release a 5G version of the iPhone SE in the first part of the year, followed by the new iPhone 14 series in the autumn. Furthermore, Apple is working on the Apple Watch Series 8, a new Watch SE model, and a robust version geared for extreme sports enthusiasts.

The Apple Watch Series 7 was lacking in terms of appearance and functionality the year before, so it’ll be intriguing to see what Apple has in store for us this year in the smartwatch department.

Gurman also claims that Apple is going to release a new external monitor that will cost half as much as the existing Pro Display XDR. Finally, according to the story, Apple might release the very first virtual reality headset, codenamed N301, this year. Apple had planned to debut in 2020 but postponed it until WWDC 2021, which also didn’t materialize. Now, the corporation is thought to be planning to unveil the anticipated VR headset at WWDC 2022. The headgear is reported to have some AR capabilities and runs on the rOS, codenamed Oak.
