Azamara Cruises Announces 2028 World Cruise

Azamara Cruises has announced its 2028 World Cruise aboard Azamara Onward. This 175-night itinerary spans six continents, 40 countries, and 91 ports, and is further enhanced by the support of Azamara’s new World Cruise Desk—a pre-cruise concierge for guests and travel partners. Reservations for Azamara Cruises’ 2028 World Cruise are now open.

“Our 2028 World Cruise represents Azamara’s most culturally immersive journey yet,” says Dondra Ritzenthaler, CEO of Azamara Cruises. “We are so proud to offer an experience that delivers more opportunities for extended exploration than any other 2028 world cruise — from additional late nights and overnights to an unmatched number of countries visited. As guests traverse oceans and continents, they’ll experience a remarkable sense of connection to each destination, to the people they encounter, and to our warm, welcoming crew. That’s the spirit of Azamara; inviting travelers to explore the world deeply, while always feeling perfectly at home.”

Departing Miami on January 5, 2028, Azamara Onward sets off on a global journey with first stops in the Southern Caribbean and Latin America, calling on Aruba and Colombia before a Panama Canal transit, and visits to Ecuador and Peru. Guests will have the opportunity to visit Easter Island, Chile, and explore the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Rapa Nui National Park, as well as Pitcairn Island—a bucket-list destination home to fewer than 50 residents. After crossing the Pacific, guests enjoy an overnight in Tahiti and Bora Bora before venturing on to New Zealand and Australia, including stops in Christchurch, Sydney and Cairns. The cruise continues through Asia with immersive calls in Indonesia, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Thailand and Singapore, then sails across the Indian Ocean to Sri Lanka. In southern Africa, guests visit South Africa and Namibia before continuing north to the Canary Islands. The cruise then carries on to Morocco, Barcelona, the French Riviera, and Italy, including Rome, the Amalfi Coast and Sicily, before cruising through Croatia, the Greek Isles and Türkiye. The journey concludes on June 29, 2028, in Athens.

The 2028 World Cruise is divided into 14 segments, giving travelers the flexibility to experience the full 175-night journey, each with its own mix of marquee cities, lesser-known ports, and visits to more than 15 UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Each segment will also feature a slate of exclusive events, AzAmazing Evenings, and curated enrichment that reflect the cultures guests will experience—from regionally inspired entertainment and guest lecturers to special tastings and celebratory deck parties—all complemented by Azamara’s industry-leading schedule of late nights and overnights.

Throughout the 2028 World Cruise, Azamara will also offer a collection of one-of-a-kind overland experiences designed to bring guests even closer to some of the world’s most iconic sites. Planned and anticipated programs include multi-day journeys to destinations such as Beijing, the Great Wall, and Xi’an with the Terra Cotta Warriors; the temples of Siam Reap-Angkor Wat, Ta Phrom, and Angkor Thom; Agra’s Taj Mahal, and Delhi; Bhutan’s mountain monasteries; Sri Lanka’s ancient cities and wildlife reserves; and safari lodges in South Africa. Additional overland options, including must-visit landmarks like Machu Picchu and Marrakesh, will be announced as programming is finalized. Here are a few highlights of the 2028 World Cruise:

  • More time in port: 44 late nights and 24 overnights allow guests to explore and connect more deeply with local culture at their own pace, from after-dark street food scenes and night markets to evening performances and illuminated skylines.
  • Exclusive cultural events & AzAmazing Evenings: Azamara’s beloved destination events will shine throughout the journey, with 14 signature AzAmazing Evenings and three World Cruise-only events (17 total experiences) offering guests privileged access to intimate performances, private cultural showcases, and unforgettable moments ashore.
  • Destination-inspired culinary experiences: Menus curated to reflect the regions visited will showcase destination-driven entrées and locally influenced flavors, complemented by selections of regional wines and locally sourced beers, allowing guests to explore the world through cuisine both ashore and onboard.
  • Overland experiences: A robust portfolio of overland programs will give guests the chance to venture further into each region, with immersive itineraries that may include sunrise visits before public opening hours, in-depth encounters with local experts and artisans, and multi-day journeys to destinations such as Angkor Wat, the Taj Mahal, the Great Wall of China, Bhutan, Sri Lanka and African game reserves.
  • Historic sites: Blending must-see destinations with UNESCO World Heritage Sites, the 2028 World Cruise will take guests from Vatican City (via Rome/Civitavecchia) and the Sydney Opera House to the Acropolis (Athens) and Komodo National Park (Indonesia).
  • Personalized service: Azamara’s world-class crew fosters meaningful connections throughout the sailing, delivering exceptional service and creating a welcoming community that grows closer over 175 nights onboard—transforming the World Cruise into a shared journey among friends.
