Dhaka, Berlin sign €20.15-mn pact to improve RMG workers conditions

Bangladesh and Germany recently signed an agreement to support five projects worth €20.15 million, to be jointly implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH (GIZ) and partner ministries and institutions in Bangladesh. The grant will be used for interventions in the textile sector and for the promotion of e-mobility in Bangladesh.

The grant will also ensure access to clean energy for Bangladeshi citizens, GIZ Bangladesh said on LinnkedIn.

Fatima Yasmin, secretary of the economic relations division of the Bangladesh ministry of finance and Achim Tröster, German ambassador to Bangladesh signed the agreement on January 11.

The ambassador highlighted the common interest of both the countries to improve the working conditions of workers in the textile processing industry and to ensure access to clean energy for the entire population of the country, if possible.
