Spring is in the air, especially in California, Utah and Texas, where gardens and fields are alive with vibrant colorful flowers creating a Spring Superbloom. Here are 5 different venues to visit to take in the beauty and floral smells that will excite your senses.

UTAH

Each year, longtime groundskeeper Dirk Van Wagoner at The Grand America Hotel in Salt Lake City, leads the implementation of the property’s annual tulip display. The colors of The Grand Tulips are in a kaleidoscope of vibrant shades. 

The Grand’s courtyard tulips awaken in mid-April and are expected to be in peak bloom just in time for Mother’s Day this year.

Locals and visitors at The Grand America see roughly 42,000 blooms in 10 acres of flowerbed in the heart of Salt Lake City. 

Dallas Arboretum & Botanical Garden in Texas

Texas 

The Dallas Arboretum & Botanical Garden Dallas Blooms is filled with 500,000 spring-blooming bulbs, thousands of azaleas and hundreds of cherry trees until April 8, 2024. This year’s theme, ‘A Picture’s Worth a Thousand Words,’ offers larger-than-life living selfie walls, adding a fun photo opportunity.

It’s the largest floral festival in the Southwest. Enjoy live piano music every weekend in Jeanne’s Pavillion from 12-2 p.m., and party bands from 2-4 p.m., on the Martin Rutchik Concert Stage and Lawn. The Rory Meyers Children’s Adventure Garden reopened on Feb. 24. Come for the flowers, and stay for the fun during Dallas Blooms.

Tulips bloom early in Texas at the Texas-Tulips U-Pick Tulip Field in Pilot Point, North of Dallas. Each year visitors and locals come admire 100 different types of tulips through end of March. Colors range from bold reds and sunny yellows to delicate pinks and purples.

Visitors can fill their basket as they wander through the six-acre field and capture unforgettable photos amidst the sea of blooms. Texas-Tulips will kindly wrap the freshly-picked bouquet to take home. Admission is $6 per person and tulips are $2.50 per stem.

The Flower Fields in California

California

Now through May 12, 2024, millions of vibrant colored ranunculus in a rainbow of colors are blooming over 50 acres of The Flower Fields on the hillside of Carlsbad Ranch in Carlsbad, CA. Tecolote Giant Ranunculus bulbs were planted in different stages to prolong the blooming season.i At the field’s floral peak, there are close to 80 million flowers in full bloom.

Besides the colorful ranunculus, Carlsbad Ranch also plants red, white and blue petunias in rows to resemble the American Flag. Above the fields is The Cassara Carlsbad Resort. Newport Daffodil Days in Rhode Island

Newport in Bloom begins on April 6-28, 2024, with a display of over 1.4 million bright yellow daffodils. This is the 13th Annual Newport Daffodil Days along ‘The Classic Coast.’ Each day is sprinkled with events and activations including a Daffodils 5K race, themed boat tours, decorated storefronts and a Daffy Dog Paw-rade.

Newport’s Daffodil Days was formed in support of Newport In Bloom, a non-profit organization that encourages residents and businesses to beautify their gardens and public spaces with flowers. All contributions made during Daffodil Days go to purchase more bulbs to plant and give-away each October.
