Jen who had been engaged for more of her career finally decided to go through the nuptials. Jennifer confirmed the news of her wedding in a fans newsletter also shared photos and videos from the special day. While JLo is still, JLo on her social media platforms, fans expressed their disappointment when the star signed her latest fan newsletter with Ben’s last name. She wrote, “With love, Mrs. Jennifer Lynn Affleck.”

One user wrote, “Why would JLo change her name? She has a whole career invested in her birth name!! She needs to keep her name.” Another said, “I refuse to call her J.Aff.” Fans couldn’t understand that after years of putting her career and kids forward why the actress with a net worth of $400 million would change her last name.

Others went on to express their concern about the need behind the name change. One tweet read, “Women need to stop changing their names. I’ve been married 15 years and did not. My sister did, and then changed it back, she is still married to same man. Keep your identity”

This is not the first time a celebrity of Jlo’s stature has changed her last name. Earlier, Priyanka Chopra had received similar backlash about changing her names on social media as Priyanka Chopra Jonas. So did Sonam Kapoor who has also been using her name with a hyphen alongside Anand Ahuja’s last name.

The tradition deeply rooted in misogyny is still very present among the masses and becomes hard to deviate from, when icons and role models fall down the same rabbit hole.
