NASA via its Twitter handle has just proved how small the Earth can be from Saturn. In this image which was basically captured in 2013 is now surfacing on the web and is driving space enthusiasts towards euphoria. All this was solely possible for the NASA-led Cassini mission. Read below to know everything about the image captured

In a tweet, that the space agency shared via the microblogging site, it read, “In 2013, the Cassini spacecraft captured this wide-angle view of Saturn and a chunk of its rings. That pale blue dot just below the rings? That’s Earth from about 898 million miles (1.4 billion kilometers) away.” In layman terms, the image shared above was taken provides a wide-angle view of Saturn’s magnificent rings in great detail. Another characteristic of the image is a pale blue dot that is shining in the background while suspended in the cosmic dark.

Cassini Probe

Cassini–Huygens is an unmanned spacecraft sent to the planet Saturn and development for the same flagged off in the 1980s.. It is NASA’s flagship mission and is among the probe to the planet Saturn. Cassini is the fourth space probe to visit Saturn and the first to enter orbit, and its mission is ongoing as of April 2017. It has studied the planet and its many natural satellites since arriving there in 2004.

Cassini during its probe discovered that the icy Saturn moon Enceladus conceals a sub-surface, salty ocean beneath its crust, and may be able to support living microbes. Project scientists believe that because of such discoveries, textbooks on planetary science will have to be re-written. Its design includes a Saturn orbiter (Cassini) and a lander (Huygens) for the moon, Titan
