As the Shark Tank India obsession grows, the reality TV series that’s all about business pitches and India’s top investors making deals with aspiring entrepreneurs has put the countries top business owners in the limelight. But not all the headlines they’re making are good. Turns out, one of the Sharks from the show – Ashneer Grover who is the co-founder and Managing Director of BharatPe has come under the scanner for alleged fraud.
According to reports on Live Mint, BharatPe’s co-founder Ashneer Grover is currently under investigation for financial fraud. Sources close to the proceedings have revealed that Grover might get fired from BharatPe. A law firm has been brought on board to look into the matter and the investigation will likely go on for two months.
In another shocking development, it was also reported that his wife Madhuri Jain who served as head of controls at the company has been fired. Responding to the news of BharatPe firing its employees, the company released a statement denying the claims. It reads, “The board of BharatPe has not terminated the services of any employee at this stage. Reports suggesting any termination are baseless and untrue. The board remains committed to an independent and thorough audit process. No action has been taken or will be taken till the audit has been completed. We again urge the media not to speculate in advance of the report and make a judgement based on uninformed sources.” Meanwhile, the outcome of the current predicament remains to be seen.
