The success of La Casa de Papel or Money Heist all through five thrilling seasons was perhaps the biggest testament of the popularity of non-English shows on Netflix. Now, after the Spanish-language show’s finale, the streamer is all set to release a much-anticipated Korean remake. Netflix just confirmed details of the upcoming show and released its first teaser. Titled Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area, the series features a Korean cast including Squid Game star Park Hae-soo, actors Jun Jong-seo, Yoo Ji-tae and more.

Money Heist was one of the highest viewed shows on Netflix. It’s Korean remake is poised to keep up the excitement around the Professor and his motley heist gang. The eight members include Berlin (Park Hae-soo), Tokyo (Jun Jong-seo), Moscow (Lee Won-jong), Denver (Kim Ji-hun), Nairobi (Jang Yoon-ju), Rio (Lee Hyun-woo), Helsinki (Kim Ji-hoon), and Oslo (Lee Kyu-ho). Yoo Ji-tae plays the Professor, the mastermind behind the plan.

The teaser showcases Yoo Ji-tae standing in front of a wall of masks including a traditional Korean mask and the Spanish Salvador Dali mask from the original series. The show’s synopsis reads – Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area narrates a genius strategist and his talented crew – composed of top-class thieves – attempting to pull off an unprecedented heist in the Korean Peninsula. The story portrays unexpected twists and turns as the crew stage a hostage while facing inexplicable challenges. All eyes are focused on the background and definition behind the title Joint Economic Area.

The Korean adaptation of Money Heist is directed by Kim Hong-sun and written by Ryu Yong-jae, Kim Hwan-chae and Choe Sung-jun. Currently, the release date of the show is unknown.
