In a surprising turn of events, a hospital in Kerala’s Kozhikode issued a public apology after unknowingly using a photo of Oscar-winning veteran actor Morgan Freeman in a skin treatment advert for their dermatology department. But before the Vadakara Co-operative Hospital could issue a formal apology, they had already come under the scanner of furious Freeman fans, who took to their respective social media handles to slam the hospital.
Sir, .@morgan_freeman your picture is used as a poster at a dermatology department advt board in hospital in Kerala, India.
Using your picture as sample, they are claiming to make everyone free from dark tan, wrinkles, pigments…. pic.twitter.com/54plREcswi

While the hospital advert featuring the 84-year-old actor, went viral within no time, several Twitter users schooled the hospital for their lack of knowledge. Check out some reactions here:
Oh, my god! The dermatology department of a Kerala cooperative hospital is using the photo of Morgan Freeman to claim they can remove warts & skin tags in a single visit! Show respect & basic courtesy, people! @morgan_freeman pic.twitter.com/l9KkEe001k

This is grossly unfortunate that those who decided to use Mr. Freeman’s picture probably didn’t know the calibre of him as an actor and as a human.

It’s a local government hospital. I am sure that graphic designer has no idea who ‘Morgan Freeman’ is. He might have used any free stock image.. 🤦♀️

I really hope Morgan Freeman is too busy to see this tweet…

This is why I feel Morgan Freeman should be more choosy with his roles. pic.twitter.com/VIL2fHkIAR

Responding to the online backlash, Vadakara Co-operative Hospital’s Marketing Manager, T Sunil, in a telephonic conversation with Indian Express issued an apology. “The picture was taken from the internet, and the board was displayed near the casualty on January 26 (Wednesday). When we came to know about the gaffe, it wPodcastas removed,” he said. “We extended our apology on Facebook. We understand that Freeman is a great artist, admired by many people across the world. We sincerely say sorry for the lack of knowledge.”
Meanwhile, the veteran actor, whose career spans over five decades, has featured in several iconic movies and delivered breath-taking performances which have earned him many accolades. Last seen in filmmaker Patrick Hughes’ action-drama ‘Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard’ alongside Ryan Reynolds, Samuel L. Jackson and Salma Hayek, Morgan Freeman is currently busy with the filming of his upcoming project ‘A Good Person’.
