Marriott International to Bring The Ritz-Carlton Brand to Fiji’s Coral Coast

Marriott International has signed an agreement with Luxurious Resort (Fiji) Pte Limited to debut The Ritz-Carlton brand in Fiji. Slated to open in 2030, The Ritz-Carlton Fiji, Namuka Bay will expand the company’s luxury footprint in the South Pacific, marking a milestone for both the brand and the destination.

The new-build 249-key resort will be set on nearly 70 acres of beachfront along Fiji’s Coral Coast, just over an hour’s drive from Nadi International Airport. Designed to reflect Fijian culture and heritage, the property will offer 166 guestrooms and suites, most with ocean views, along with 83 villas featuring private plunge pools and decks. A 5,166-square-foot Presidential Villa is expected to showcase a 2002-square-foot private pool, expansive balcony and yoga lounge. Plans also call for seven dining venues, from fine dining to casual beachfront concepts.

“It is exciting to reach agreement to debut The Ritz-Carlton in one of the world’s most desirable destinations,” Richard Crawford, vice president of hotel development for Australia, New Zealand and Pacific for Marriott International, said in a statement. “With Fiji experiencing significant growth in visitor numbers, market profile, and infrastructure, now is the ideal time to introduce Marriott’s luxury portfolio to the island. The government’s clear and coordinated commitment to sustainable tourism and quality hotel development is driving strong investor interest and attracting top-tier global brands. We expect the local benefits of this investment to be far-reaching, and we are confident that The Ritz-Carlton brand has the global cachet to attract new affluent travel markets to Fiji.”

“As the largest resort operator in Fiji, we have historically focused on our elevated premium brands, such as Marriott, Sheraton and Westin,” Tristan Cooper, director of development for Marriott International Australia, New Zealand and Pacific, added in a statement. “However, to cater to even more discerning travelers, we are eager to secure footholds for our luxury portfolio, particularly The Ritz-Carlton. It is therefore exciting to have the chance to deliver on this objective, at a stunning beachfront location on the Coral Coast. The Ritz-Carlton Fiji, Namuka Bay will be a truly world-class offering, delivering the legendary service the brand is known for and the very best resort facilities in the country.”

Beyond accommodations, the resort will emphasize wellness and recreation, with two large pools, a yoga studio, tennis courts, a children’s recreation center with Ritz Kids programming, and The Ritz-Carlton Spa, featuring eight treatment rooms, sauna, dip pools and a salon. Event planners will find 14,208 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting space, including a 6,350-square-foot ballroom, a junior ballroom, three meeting rooms and a 40-seat chapel.

The project comes as demand for luxury leisure travel in Fiji grows. According to Marriott International’s “Intentional Traveler” report, beach vacations remain the most popular trip type among high-net-worth individuals, with wellness and spa getaways also showing significant growth.

The Ritz-Carlton Fiji, Namuka Bay will join Marriott’s current Fiji portfolio, which includes Fiji Marriott Resort Momi Bay, Sheraton Denarau Villas, Sheraton Fiji Golf & Beach Resort, Sheraton Resort & Spa Tokoriki Island and The Westin Denarau Island Resort & Spa, slated to reopen in 2025.
