With the expected launch of the iPhone 17 series just a few months away in September 2025, leaks and rumors are already painting a pretty exciting picture of what Apple could be preparing. From design tweaks to serious hardware upgrades, the buzz is building fast, and fans of the brand are paying attention.
One of the latest leaks comes from well-known tipster Majin Bu, who shared images of what he claims are the upcoming iPhone 17 cases. These include the usual suspects: iPhone 17, 17 Pro, and 17 Pro Max, but there’s also a new name in the mix: the iPhone 17 Air. Interestingly, despite the official reveal still being months away, these cases are reportedly already available for pre-order via direct messages on X (formerly Twitter).

Design-wise, the leaked cases feature a clear back with white MagSafe rings, very similar to Apple’s current clear MagSafe cases. But what’s catching everyone’s eye is the camera setup. The standard iPhone 17 has a fairly modest camera cutout, slightly larger than the iPhone 16. The Pro models, meanwhile, keep their large camera modules, but it’s the iPhone 17 Air that stands out. Its case reveals a unique horizontal cutout across the back—reminiscent of Google Pixel’s camera bar, but positioned higher.
This lines up with earlier rumors suggesting Apple might be adopting a new camera bar design for the Air, Pro, and Pro Max models. Industry insider Mark Gurman has hinted that the iPhone 17 Pro could come with a seamless, single-tone back, while the Pro Max might introduce a two-tone finish, giving it a more distinctive look.
Beyond the aesthetics, the iPhone 17 series is expected to offer some big feature upgrades. For starters, Apple may finally bring its smooth 120Hz ProMotion display to the base iPhone 17—something previously reserved for the Pro versions. These screens are expected to use LTPO OLED panels from Samsung, which are more energy-efficient and could pave the way for features like an always-on display.
On the camera front, a major improvement could be on the way: a 24MP front camera across all models, up from the 12MP sensors on the iPhone 16. The Pro and Pro Max are rumored to sport three 48MP sensors in a new horizontal layout, while the Air might have a single 48MP rear camera.
Under the hood, the iPhone 17 series will likely debut Apple’s new A19 Bionic chip and run iOS 19, along with improved Wi-Fi capabilities. And in a shift from previous years, the “Plus” model may be retired, reportedly due to weaker sales, with the sleeker iPhone 17 Air taking its place.
While nothing is official yet, the early leaks suggest Apple is going all-in on design innovation and camera performance this year. If the rumors hold true, the iPhone 17 lineup could mark one of the most exciting updates in recent memory.
