Users of the Apple iPhone13 have been waiting months for the Cupertino-based tech giant to fix the issue of noise cancellation, which is missing from the current version of the phone.

The Noise cancellation is available on iPhone 5 series till 12 series, allowing users to suppress ambient sound on phone calls while keeping the receiver near to the ear. However, the function is not present on the iPhone 13 model. Throwaway wl999, a Reddit member, reported on December 24, 2021, that perhaps the iPhone 13 lacks “a front mic used for noise canceling.”

Users can find the setting in Accessibility -> Audio/Visual.

Others on Reddit agreed that he was accurate about the iPhone 13’s lack of utility. The iPhone 13 does, however, include a microphone that allows this capability (via 9to5Mac). An Apple Technical Specialist responded that they needed to enable ‘noise cancellation’ on their iPhone and sent a link to an article that explained how to alter the iPhone’s audio settings.

However, iPhone 13 owners would be unable to locate this option in their settings menu. The person then went on to compare the new iPhone to that same Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge, which had superior call quality and no background noise, according to the user. “The iPhone 13 Pro Max hisses and crackles, reminding me of the old Alcatel days,” the user added. “The iPhone 13 has ‘never’ had this option with iOS 15 since it’s a malfunction,” said user dagocarlito in response to this inquiry.” I’ve been in contact with Apple Support about this. It’s a known issue that they’re working on, but there’s no timetable for a fix at the present. When speaking between iPhone 13s in CarPlay, this problem also causes echoes.

It’s a serious defect that has to be addressed right away.” The problem persists even after two months and the iOS 15.2 upgrade. The iOS 15.3 beta, it appears, does not solve or ease this issue. It’s unclear how much longer Apple will take to resolve the problem or offer a remedy.
