Karan Johar who has a filmography full of iconic romance and family dramas – Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai to name a few, is looking to delve into an all-new genre. In an unexpected move, the director is set to helm an action film. If it all goes as planned, this will mark his first ever action flick. And to joining him on his directorial is none other than Bollywood star Hrithik Roshan.
As per recent reports on Peeping Moon, a Dharma Productions source revealed that Johar is planning on going from grand romances to grand action sequences in an upcoming venture that will be “an action and love story mounted on a massive scale,” the report read. Well, that sounds like him.
Hrithik Roshan who is best known for films like Krrish, Dhoom 2 and War sounds like the perfect choice for the film, especially, since it means that the actor will team-up with Karan Johar decades after the release of Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. Considering their last film was a massive success, it will be interesting to have them collaborate after such a long gap.
Karan Johar was due to direct Takht, a star-studded film featuring an ensemle cast that includes Anil Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Vicky Kaushal, Janhvi Kapoor and Bhumi Pednekar. However. there aren’t any current updates on it. Meanwhile, he’s attached to helm Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani which casts Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan, Shabama Azmi, Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh in pivotal roles. The film is reportedly in production.
Johar has also produced an upcoming film Gehraiyaan directed by Shakun Batra under the Dharma Productions banner. He describes the star-studded film featuring Deepika Padukone, Siddharth Malhotra and Ananay Panday as, “an intense, real, and honest observation of modern relationships,”
