Legendary actor Manoj Kumar passed away on Friday at the age of 87 in a Mumbai hospital due to age-related health issues. Known for iconic films like Hariyali Aur Rasta, Woh Kaun Thi, Shaheed, Gumnaam, Upkar, and Purab Aur Paschim, the actor left behind a remarkable legacy. His last rites took place on Saturday morning at the Pawan Hans crematorium, where he was cremated with full state honors, his body wrapped in the national flag and saluted with a 21-gun tribute.
Veteran actors Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra, both of whom shared a professional and personal bond with Manoj Kumar, paid their respects. Amitabh attended the funeral, while Dharmendra visited Kumar’s Mumbai residence to offer condolences.

On his blog, Bachchan posted a black-and-white photo of himself hugging Manoj Kumar, a memory from their collaboration on the 1974 film Roti Kapada Aur Makaan. He captioned it, “In remembrance… and prayer.”

Dharmendra, who worked with Kumar in movies like Shaadi and Maidan-E-Jung, shared a throwback picture on Instagram. He wrote, “Manoj, mere yaar tere saath beeta har pal bahut yaad ayega (Manoj, my friend, I’ll remember every moment spent with you).”
Nicknamed ‘Bharat Kumar’ for his patriotic roles, Manoj Kumar was a towering presence in Indian cinema. His career highlights include classics like Purab Aur Paschim, Kranti, and Roti, Kapada Aur Makaan. Over the years, he received a National Film Award and seven Filmfare Awards, cementing his status as one of Bollywood’s most celebrated stars.
