Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2022 will be held between January 5 to January 8. However, it looks like the tradeshow might not take place as planned due to many companies like Amazon, Meta, Twitter, and Pinterest have canceled their plans of attending the in-person events in Las Vegas last month due to growing COVID-19 cases.

According to Bloomberg reports, Amazon and its sister home brand Ring said that they are not gracing the event next month because of the spreading pandemic and the rise of Omicron cases.

Also, Twitter and Meta-owned Facebook planned to send their employees to attend the event, but it seems like they too are looking for online options instead due to the skyrocketing cases of COVID-19 cases from the past week.

Besides, Pinterest and iHeartRadio too have canceled their plans of attending the in-person event. Also, the Mobile Network giant T-Mobile opted out of having an in-person presence.

“We are prioritizing the safety of our team and other attendees with this decision…Additionally, T-Mobile CEO Mike Sievert will no longer be offering a keynote in-person or virtually,” said Mike Sievert, T-Mobile CEO.

“T-Mobile will continue to serve as a CES sponsor and title sponsor of the DRL Championship Race but the vast majority of our team will not be traveling to Las Vegas,” he added.

Similarly, other top companies like OnePlus, Qualcomm, HTC, Waymo, and Sony Electronics are among the others who are not showing interest in the CES held in January next year. Although, Samsung and AMD are still thinking to have a limited presence in the event, whereas NVIDIA will be sending two of its officials to present a virtual keynote.

However, the CES event which will be held every year will follow COVID protocols and take necessary precautions for hosting people at the event.
