With the increasing popularity of Korean culture, Netflix’s recently released K-drama ‘Squid Game’ has managed to strike a chord with the audience, which has made it one of the most-viewed non-English Netflix series of all time. Despite being mired in a few controversies, the Korean drama has impressed the audience with its strong narrative and gripping storyline. And given its immense popularity on social media, desi netizens too have joined the ongoing party by sharing a couple of Bollywood-inspired Squid Game memes.

Created by Hwang Dong-hyuk, Squid Game features an ensemble star cast comprising of Lee Jung-jae, Park Hae-soo, Jung Ho-yeon, Wi Ha-joon, Heo Sung-tae, Anupam Tripathi, O Yeong-su and Kim Joo-ryoung. And according to latest reports, the show has also entered the race for the upcoming Emmy nomination.

Talking about the show’s immense popularity, Netflix’s co-CEO and chief content officer Ted Sarandos said, “Squid Game will definitely be our biggest non-English language show in the world, for sure. There’s a very good chance it’s going to be our biggest show ever. We did not see that coming, in terms of its global popularity,” at Vox Media’s Code Conference last month.

Inspired by the Korean survival drama, the Korean Cultural Center in UAE has organized an event where fans can participate in the games show in Squid Game, but unlike the show, it would be violence-free.
