Bangladesh inter-bank USD exchange rate hits record Tk109

Bangladesh’s inter-bank exchange rate for the US dollar—the rate at which one bank sells dollars to another bank—rose yesterday from Tk108.70 to Tk109—a new record for the greenback’s price in the domestic currency exchange market.

The American greenback traded at the lowest rate of Tk108.03 on June 14, according to Bangladesh media reports.

The inter-bank exchange rate for the US dollar—the rate at which one bank sells dollars to another bank—rose yesterday from Tk108.70 to Tk109 in Bangladesh—a new record, the lowest rate on that day being Tk108.03.
The remittance dollar rate is Tk108.50 now.
Before that, the inter-bank rate rose to TK108.75 on 23 May—the highest in the country’s history.

The remittance dollar rate is Tk108.50 now, implying that the inter-bank dollar rate has risen more than that, according to Bangladesh Bank data.

Before that on 23 May, the dollar rate rose to TK108.75 and it was the highest price of dollars in the country’s history in this inter-bank dollar market till June 14.

On May 15 this year, the dollar rate rose to Tk108.50 in interbank exchange and was Tk108 on May 7.

The Association of Bankers Bangladesh and the Bangladesh Foreign Exchange Dealers’ Association increased the remittance dollar rate by Tk0.50 to Tk108.50 on May 31.
