The Amarnath Yatra 2026 will commence on July 3 and conclude on August 28, spanning 57 days. The dates were announced by Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha following a meeting of the Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board (SASB). The first puja will be performed on June 19 on the occasion of Jyeshtha Purnima.

The annual pilgrimage to the Amarnath Cave Shrine in south Kashmir will run for 57 days, from July 3 to August 28, 2026. The SASB, chaired by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, finalized the schedule at its recent board meeting.

Amarnath Yatra 2026 Registration

Registration opens April 15, 2026, and is mandatory for all pilgrims. It will be conducted on a first-come, first-served basis through the official SASB website or at over 550 authorized bank branches across India. The permit fee is ₹150 per person, and registration closes seven days before the pilgrim’s chosen yatra date. Banks have been directed to set up help desks and conduct staff training to facilitate smooth registration.

Amarnath Yatra 2026 Authorised Banks

Offline registrations can be completed at designated branches of five authorized banks—State Bank of India, Punjab National Bank, ICICI Bank, Axis Bank, and Yes Bank. Each branch operates subject to a daily quota fixed per route.

Pilgrims are required to carry a valid Compulsory Health Certificate (CHC) and Aadhaar details when visiting a branch. The bank verifies the CHC for authenticity and validity before issuing a system-generated yatra permit.

Amarnath Yatra 2026 Routes

Pilgrims can choose between two routes.

The Pahalgam route, covering 48 km from Nunwan in Anantnag district, is longer but offers a more gradual ascent.

The Baltal route in the Ganderbal district covers 14 km and is shorter but considerably steeper. Both routes operate under daily quotas to regulate pilgrim movement and maintain safety.

Amarnath Yatra 2026 Eligibility

Only pilgrims between the ages of 13 and 70 are permitted to undertake the yatra. A Compulsory Health Certificate (CHC), issued on or after April 8, 2026, is mandatory and must be verified by an authorized bank branch before a yatra permit is issued. The permit specifies the pilgrim’s chosen route and entry point—Domel for Baltal or Chandanwari for Pahalgam. Women more than six weeks pregnant are advised against undertaking the pilgrimage.

The Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra will commence this year on 3 July 2026 and conclude on Raksha Bandhan, 28 August 2026, spanning a total of 57 days. The Pratham Puja, to invoke the blessings of Lord Shiva, will be held on Jyeshtha Purnima, 29 June 2026.

Advance registration for the Yatra will begin on 15 April 2026 via both offline and online modes. This facility will be available at 554 branches of J&K Bank, PNB, SBI, and Yes Bank across the country.
