The National Aeronautics and Space Administration has sent four astronauts namely NASA’s Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, and Christina Koch, and CSA (Canadian Space Agency) astronaut Jeremy Hansen, aboard the Orion spacecraft on a 10-days sojourn to conduct a lunar flyby. NASA’s powerful SLS rocket launched the spacecraft on April 1, 2026 at around 4 AM IST to space, where it unfurled its solar panel wings for the journey ahead.

For the historic journey that will take the squad of these Fantastic Four humans to the farthest a human has ever travelled, NASA has equipped them with several amenities.

Let’s start with food:

Coffee (of course), Green tea, Lemonade, Pineapple Drink, Chocolate Breakfast Drink, Tortillas, Vegetable Quiche, Breakfast Sausage, Cashews, Almonds, Macaroni & Cheese, Cauliflower, Pudding, Cookies, and more.

There’s also one of the most advanced toilet systems for the astronauts onboard, which malfunctioned for a while after the launch, but was restored.

The Orion spacecraft hosts three display and sophisticated control systems with about 60 physical switches.

The crew is carrying camera gear to take pictures of the moon when they arrive near the lunar polar region on April 04, 2026. NASA has also provided the crew with brand new silver iPhone 17 Pro Max, which they are seen in the below video hurling at each other without fearing it will crash. Zero gravity flex.

Artemis II is a test mission for Artemis III as the crew will test all equipment and critical systems for the next trip to the moon that will see a historic landing on the lunar polar region.
