Veteran screenwriter, actor, and filmmaker Salim Khan was hospitalised a month ago after suffering a brain haemorrhage. He has been under medical observation at the Lilavati Hospital since February 17, 2026. Now, the veteran’s son, Arbaaz Khan, has shared an update about when the former will be discharged.
Opening up about his father’s health, during his brief interaction with the paparazzi, Khan reassured his father’s well-wishers that the 90-year-old veteran is recovering well and could be discharged soon. He spoke to the paparazzi, where he was recently seen attending an Iftar gathering in Mumbai. When asked about his father’s health, he said that the filmmaker is gradually improving.
Quoted by Outlook India, the 58-year-old actor said, “He is better now, he’s improving now. Dad is better.” Upon being asked about the possibility of his discharge from the hospitality, he said, “Soon. Inshallah.”
The media publications reported that the doctors treating him stated that Khan had experienced a minor brain haemorrhage. He was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) under the supervision of his personal physician. Sharing details about the treatment, cardiologist Dr Jalil Parkar said, “There was minimal brain haemorrhage. A small procedure was done this morning, and it was accomplished. He is fine and stable, but is still on a ventilator. By tomorrow, hopefully, we will take him off the ventilator.”
For those who don’t know, soon after, several members of the film industry visited the hospital, including Sanjay Dutt, Aamir Khan, and Malaika Arora.
Khan’s family includes his two wives, Salma Khan and Helen, along with their kids, Salman Khan, Arbaaz Khan, Sohail Khan, Alvira Khan Agnihotri, and Arpita Khan Sharma. He has two sons-in-law, Atul Agnihotri and Aayush Sharma, as well as a daughter-in-law, Sshura Khan. He has many grandchildren, including Alizeh Agnihotri, Ayaan Agnihotri, Arhaan Khan, Sipaara Khan, Nirvan Khan, Yohan Khan, Ahil Sharma, and Ayat Sharma.
Having been regarded as one of the most influential screenwriters of the Hindi film industry, he, along with Javed Akhtar, penned many iconic movies which helped shape mainstream Bollywood during the 1970s and early 1980s. Their movies include classics like Sholay, Deewar, Zanjeer, Trishul, and others.
On the work front, Arbaaz Khan was last seen in Bihu Attack, directed by Suzad Iqbal Khan and co-starring Daisy Shah, Rahul Dev, and Hiten Tejwani.
