Google Pixel 10a Launched In India At Rs 49,999; Features AI Camera, Bigger Battery

Google has launched the Pixel 10a in India, bringing its latest AI-driven features to the mid-range segment while retaining last year’s A-series pricing at Rs 49,999. The smartphone will be available for sale starting March 6, with pre-orders already open.

Positioned as an accessible entry point into Google’s AI ecosystem, the Pixel 10a combines upgraded hardware, long-term software support and new affordability options through the Pixel Upgrade Program.

AI Features Move to the A-Series

The Pixel 10a brings several AI tools previously seen on flagship Pixel devices to a more affordable price bracket. Among the highlights is Camera Coach, which offers real-time suggestions to improve framing and lighting, and Auto Best Take, designed to optimise group photos by selecting the best facial expressions.

Google says these features are powered by on-device AI and will continue to improve through monthly Pixel Drops, extending the phone’s functionality over time.

Brighter Display, Bigger Battery

The device features a 6.3-inch Actua display with a peak brightness of 3,000 nits, making it the brightest screen ever on a Pixel A-series phone. The higher brightness is expected to improve outdoor visibility, a key requirement for Indian users.

Battery capacity has also been increased to 5,100 mAh, the largest on an A-series Pixel so far, with Google claiming more than 30 hours of usage on a single charge. The phone supports 30W wired and 10W wireless charging.

Durability and Long-Term Updates

The Pixel 10a comes with IP68 dust and water resistance, Gorilla Glass protection and a redesigned, flatter front with slimmer bezels. Google is continuing its long-term software commitment by offering seven years of OS and security updates, a feature that remains rare in this price segment.

Pixel Upgrade Program and Launch Offers

Google is expanding its Pixel Upgrade Program to include the Pixel 10a, allowing buyers to opt for zero-down-payment EMIs starting at Rs 2,083 per month. The program also offers a structured upgrade path after nine installments.

Additional launch offers include Rs 3,000 cashback on select HDFC Bank cards, a Rs 3,000 exchange bonus and no-cost EMI options for up to 24 months.

Sustainability Focus

Google says the Pixel 10a is its most sustainable A-series device to date, with a 100% aluminium frame, an 81% recycled plastic back, and the use of recycled metals including cobalt, copper and gold.

Market Positioning

With AI camera tools, extended software support and flagship-level durability features, the Pixel 10a is aimed at users looking for long-term value rather than raw performance. By maintaining its price point while adding hardware upgrades, Google is positioning the device as a strong contender in India’s competitive mid-range smartphone market.

As AI features become a central differentiator in smartphones, the Pixel 10a represents Google’s strategy to bring those capabilities to a wider audience.
