Ranbir Kapoor Confirms Love & War’s Delayed Release; Actor Calls It His ‘Bad Luck’

Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor is currently preparing for the release of his upcoming films, Ramayana Part One and Sanjay Leela Bhansali directorial Love & War. Last seen on the big screen in Sandeep Reddy Vanga directorial Animal, and his special cameo in Aryan Khan’s directorial debut Netflix series, The Ba***Ds Of Bollywood, fans have been waiting with bated breath to watch him on the big screen again. Recently, during an Instagram Live, which he hosted to celebrate his brand ARKS completing a year, he shared an update on Love & War’s delayed release.

Initially scheduled for a release on Christmas 2025, the Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal co-starrer’s release had been delayed quite a few times. During the interactive live, a fan proceeded to take a dig at RK Jr commenting, as quoted by Hindustan Times, “Ek superstar tha jo, ‘See you at the movies,’ bolke 3-4 saal gayab ho jaata hai (There was a superstar once who would always say ‘see you at the movies,’ but then would disappear for the next 3-4 years)!”

Having read the comment, Ranbir reacts to it by stating that it is his bad luck that the release of his films gets dragged a lot. He adds, “Yaar, it’s my bad luck only! Whenever I start a movie, it is usually… People finish movies in 4-6 months, but my films take a long time. But I hope that when it releases, you forget all that time it has taken. I assure you that I have been working really hard for the last 2-3 years. I have been working very hard. So I guess good things take time!”

Addressing the issue of Love & War’s delayed release, he confirmed that the SLB directorial will be gracing the big screens after the release of Nitesh Tiwari’s mythological drama Ramayana Part One. Considering the film is scheduled for release during Diwali, the movie will release in theatres in October. If we go by what Kapoor shared, then Love & War might release in December 2026.

It was earlier reported that the film might be eyeing a release in March 2026; however, the makers might be looking for a solo release, as the upcoming month will see a box office clash between Dhurandhar: The Revenge and Toxic: A Fairy Tale For Grown-Ups.

Love & War is quite a special film as it marks the reunion between Ranbir and SLB after 17 years. The filmmaker had launched the actor in Bollywood alongside Sonam Kapoor, with Saawariya. While Alia has worked with Bhansali for the movie Gangubai Kathiawadi, the upcoming film will mark Vicky and Bhansali’s first collaboration.

It will also see Alia and Vicky collaborate after eight years, as they were last seen together in Meghna Gulzar’s Raazi. On the other hand, having worked together in Sanju, Ranbir last made a cameo in Vicky’s film Govinda Naam Mera. Whereas Ranbir and Alia will be seen on the big screen again after their last outing, Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva.

While the details about the Sanjay Leela Bhansali directorial have been kept under tight wraps, media reports suggest that it is set in the 1980s and is a love story set against the backdrop of war.
