Diljit Dosanjh’s Role From Border 2 Revealed; Actor Will Play THIS Legendary Param Vir Chakra Hero

Nearly 30 years after JP Dutta’s Border (1997) captured the Battle of Longewala on screen, the story goes on. This time, JP Dutta’s daughter Nidhi Dutta teams up with Anurag Singh to direct Border 2. It is a powerful war film about the events that led to the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War. That war changed the map of South Asia for good. The first film showed the tough lives of soldiers on the Rajasthan border. Border 2 focuses on the unknown heroes who fought for Bangladesh’s freedom and helped India win one of its biggest victories.

Sunny Deol returns to his famous role as Major Kuldeep Singh Chandpuri. He was the brave leader who inspired many in the original Border. Sources say Deol’s role will connect the two films and keep the emotional and historical link strong. The sequel also brings in one of India’s greatest war heroes: Flying Officer Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon. Diljit Dosanjh plays him.

Sekhon got the Param Vir Chakra after his death. It is India’s top award for bravery in war. On December 14, 1971, six Pakistani Sabre jets attacked the Srinagar airfield. Sekhon, a Gnat pilot there, took off while under heavy fire. In the air, he shot down one Sabre jet and badly damaged another. Even when outnumbered, he fought until the end. He protected his base with great courage and sacrifice.

The cast includes Sunny Deol and Diljit Dosanjh, plus Varun Dhawan, Ahan Shetty, Sonam Bajwa, Paramvir Singh Cheema, and Medha Rana. The film mixes intense battle scenes, deep emotions, and strong patriotism. To bring back old memories, Border 2 revives the classic song Sandese Aate Hai. Sonu Nigam and Roop Kumar Rathod sing it again.

The film is now in post-production. It is set for release on Republic Day 2026. That date fits well for a movie that honors the bravery, strength, and sacrifice of India’s armed forces. With its heartfelt story and big scale, Border 2 wants to bring back the pride and love for the country that the first Border started almost 30 years ago.
