Narayana Murthy Says ChatGPT Helped Him Cut Speech Drafting Time To 5 Hours From 30; Internet Is Not Impressed

OpenAI’s ChatGPT has largely been used by corporates ever since its rollout in the fag end of 2022. Tech leaders who were largely skeptical are slowly adopting the AI tool. Infosys’s billionaire co-founder Narayana Murthy is one. In his recent interview with Money Control, the 70-hour work week proponent described how the chatbot helped him with tedious speech prep. He said,

Earlier, I used to take about 25-30 hours to prepare a lecture because I take these things very seriously.

There must be a theme, a sub-theme; they must be interrelated. At the end, there must be a strong message, all of that.

In a matter of five hours, I could improve the draft. In other words, I improved my own productivity by as much as five times,” Murthy remarked.

Reactions poured in with netizens reminding Mr Murthy about his infamous advice to young hustlers to grind 70-hours a week. One user said, “So ab 70 hours a week kaam krna pdega ya using chatgpt 40 hours me kaam chal jayega?” Another quipped, “Allow Infosys employees to use ChatGPT and other AI tools in the office. They will finish everything in 40 hours. Bekaar mein aap badnaam ho rahe the.” A third user jibed, “Narayan Murthy to Employees (now) – See, ChatGpt works 24/7 to make your life easy. The least you can do is – work for 70 hours a week and make it easy for us.” Yet another echoed a similar statement, “ChatGPT just saved him 25 hours per lecture. So now he can work 95 hours a week!” One user took a dig at the veteran techpreneur’s pursuit, “Itna Vella koi kaise ho sakta hai.”
