Tech giant HP is going all-in on India, not just as a market but as a major manufacturing base. The company has big plans to more than double the production of its personal computers in India by 2031, as part of its long-term commitment to local innovation and self-reliance.
That’s a pretty bold move, but HP is already leading the game. It topped the Indian PC market in 2024 with a solid 30.1% share and held steady in the December quarter, despite a slight dip in shipments. To meet its production targets, HP is working closely with Indian manufacturers like Dixon Technologies and VVDN Technologies.

At the same time, the company is tapping into the growing buzz around artificial intelligence. HP rolled out nine new AI-focused laptops across its EliteBook, ProBook, and OmniBook series. These devices are packed with cutting-edge processors from Intel, AMD, and Qualcomm, and feature dedicated neural processing units that can perform a jaw-dropping 40 to 55 trillion operations per second. In plain terms, they’re built to handle heavy-duty AI tasks with ease.
Prices for these new AI machines range from Rs 78,999 for the HP OmniBook 5 (16-inch) to Rs 1.86 lakh for the ultra-premium HP OmniBook Ultra (14-inch).
With a focus on both smart innovation and making in India, HP is setting the stage to not just keep up, but lead the charge into the future of computing.
