NASA’s Parker Solar Probe to come as close as 5.3 million miles to the Sun

In a tweet put out by NASA Sun and Space, it attested that its exemplary mission for the Sun, i.e the Parker Solar Probe will pass by the sun for its 11th perihelion on February 25. NASA mentioned the same will occur from over a distance of over 85 lakh kms. Here is the tweet for the same.

Additionally, Parker probe’s orbit around the sun, will also intersects the orbits of Mercury and Venus. The forthcoming flyby will be the NASA chaired Parker Probe’s 11th out of the 24 planned ones. The space agency also shared a tweet wherein viewers can also follow the proceedings of the mission.

Objectives of NASA’s Parker Solar Probe

Back in 2018, NASA’s spacecraft Parker Solar probe ( PSP) launched to study the outer region of sun, corona.The mission is set to study about sun. It is real tough mission to over come the heavy activity of the sun. The heavy radiation including charged particles coming from the corona region of the sun, namely the solar wind, which is also a great challenge for the spacecraft to study sun in closer. Only solution to overcome this barriers, is to set the spacecraft towards orbit thorough special trajectories. This type of trajectories includes aphelion and perihelion.

It will come close to the sun, and it move away from the sun, to avoid the impact of sun’s activity. It will approach the sun within 6.9million kilometers from the center of the sun. In 2025 Parker solar probe will come extremely close to the sun with a speed of 0.064 percentage of the speed of light.
