Marvel’s special halloween feature ‘Werewolf By Night’ recently dropped on Disney+ and is garnering rave reviews. Some of the critics have even rated the project 5 out of 5. Marvel fanatics are over the moon. It has struck a chord with fans, especially by the blitzy entry of a Man-Thing aka Ted. The Michael Giarcchino directorial marks the MCU debut of Laura Donnelly (Elsa Bloodstone) and Gael Garcia Benal (Jack Russel).

‘Werewolf By Night’ has been in comic fan’s wish lists for far too long. Fans have been dying to see some of the bonafide comic characters in the MCU. In the comic, Man-Thing appears in 1971 in Savage Tales #1 Man-Thing, created by Stan Lee, Roy Thomas, Gerry Conway and Gary Morrow. It has been compared to the DC’s Swamp Thing that debuted a few years later, for having almost a similar origin story. In the Marvel comics, Ted is a biochemist and a doctor who is involved in the project ‘Gladiator’ to recreate Captain America’s Super Soldier Serum. As fate would have it, he ends up in a near fatal crash by a swamp. Ted injects the super serum that yields him a supernatural power. Director Giarcchino revealed that it was producer Kevin Fiege’s idea to get the ‘Man-Thing’ introduced in the special feature.

Don’t worry you don’t need to go through the comics to get the back stories in an MCU special. Although you can always check out comic nerds online with their ready reckoners. Marvel movies and features pretty much nail the premises (with some ad lib)

Here’s how fans are reacting over the ‘Man-Thing’. Hopefully producers will listen and give the Man-Thing their own special like the Moon-Knight
