I remember watching Konkona Sen Sharma in Wake Up Sid only to be left wanting to shift to Bombay to pursue my writing dreams. In fact, I did which is why this episode of The Bombay Journey is special – because we have the versatile actress spilling beans about her relationship with Bombay and getting to know the city through films like Wake Up Sid and Page 3. But let’s start from the beginning; the Mumbai Diaries 26/11 star took to acting organically even though she never wanted to. And all thanks to her actor/writer/director mom Aparna Sen and her family where films and literature were another language she grew up with. So when she landed in Bombay after DU she felt right at home, proving out to be the natural she was since childhood.

But is there any change in the way she approaches acting after turning a director? Apart from being more considerate, Konkona reveals that it makes one richer with a whole new perspective. Speaking of perspective, she has no qualms about doing niche films on easily-offending subjects like female desire and sexuality. Which honestly shows in the filmography she has and aspires to have. It is also easier for the actress to not be bagged down by ‘failures’ because of a ‘convenient’ habit. You will have to watch the video to figure out what!

Having said that, she loves the big-budget Bollywood posters by the sea in Bombay. There are more things she appreciates about the city including how medicines are delivered at your doorstep. Hard relate! And while she liked the Bombil fry(s) easily, it took time to get used to the pani puri in the city. Especially after having puchkas from Cal(cutta). And hey, can you blame her? Check out all that and more below:
