Boston’s Allston neighborhood has long been known for its college vibe, music scene, and grit. But its newest member of the community is elevating its profile in the world of hospitality.
Boston’s hotel landscape expanded this month with the opening of The Atlas Hotel, a new boutique lifestyle property located in the Allston neighborhood. Situated at the gateway to the Enterprise Research Campus, developed by Tishman Speyer in collaboration with Harvard University, the hotel is operated by Highgate — which also operates The Newbury in Boston’s Back Bay neighborhood — and aims to serve as a social hub for the area’s academic and cultural institutions.
Designed by Marlon Blackwell Architects with interiors by INC Architecture & Design, the property emphasizes a blend of work, home, and social spaces. The design narrative merges local academic heritage (Harvard Business School is the neighbor across the street, after all) with modern aesthetics, featuring a pedestrian-friendly streetscape that leads into a lobby aimed at fostering community connection.

Sustainability is a key pillar for the new build, which has achieved LEED Gold and Fitwel certifications. The property operates primarily on all-electric energy and incorporates climate-resilient infrastructure, including rainwater-harvesting bioswales and bird-friendly window treatments.
The Atlas features 246 guest rooms, including 12 suites. The design aesthetic balances urban energy with residential calm, utilizing a palette of grey and earthy tans alongside bullnose marble accent tables and mossy green textiles.
For luxury travel advisors, the key booking is the Atlas Suite. Spanning 982 square feet, this top-tier accommodation includes a butler pantry, a dining room for six, and a soaking tub with views of the Charles River and Boston skyline — even during its pre-opening, hard hat tour era, the Atlas Suite was wow-ing this hotel snob with its city vantage point. Other suite options include the 794-square-foot Compass Suite, focused on panoramic views, and the Terrace and Tower Suites, which offer over 500 square feet of living space and select private terraces.

Guest rooms feature works by Boston photographer Edward Boches, while corridors display large-scale watercolors by artist Jeff Perrott.
The hotel’s food and beverage program is led by Biplaw Rai and Nyacko Pearl Perry of Pearl & Law Hospitality, the James Beard Award–nominated team behind Dorchester’s Comfort Kitchen.
Now open is Ama at the Atlas, a 180-seat ground-floor restaurant. Inspired by the Nepali word for “mother,” the venue focuses on global comfort cuisine and features an interior design highlighted by brass bead curtains. Those who have frequented Comfort Kitchen know this is quite the get on the hotel F&B front — and that it would be wise to make reservations ASAP.
Coming later this spring is Foxglove Terrace, a 7,000-square-foot rooftop bar. It will serve elevated cocktails and casual fare against a backdrop of panoramic city views, and we’re already giddy thinking about how fabulous it will be during the Head of the Charles Regatta (or just any fun summer evening). Private and semi-private dining options are available at both venues.

The Atlas offers versatile event spaces located on the sixth floor, overlooking Harvard Business School and Harvard Stadium. The property includes over 1,500 square feet of private meeting space for up to 100 guests, alongside the Outlook Terrace, an open-air lounge accommodating up to 130 guests.
A retail concept in partnership with The COOP (aka the Harvard Cooperative Society known for its bookstores by Harvard and MIT) is slated to open on-site in spring 2026.
The hotel is positioned adjacent to Allstonway, a community green space, and steps from Harvard’s newly opened David Rubenstein Treehouse Convention Center. The Atlas arrives at a time when Harvard’s Allston push comes amid a broader swath of redevelopment in the area — positioning the riverfront enclave into one of the area’s hottest new places to hang out.
To celebrate the opening, The Atlas is offering an introductory package through the end of February, which includes early check-in, a $100 dining credit, and priority reservations at Ama.
