Telugu filmmaker Naga Vamsi has made a name for himself with films like Jersey and Lucky Bhaskhar. On Monday, he hosted a press conference event in Hyderabad to speak on the success of his film MAD Square, sequel to Mad (2023). The film stars Narne Nithiin, Sangeeth Sobhan, Ram Nitin and Priyanka Jawalkar as the leads. During the press conference, he lost his cool while addressing the media and challenged them to ban him and his films, ads.
Vamsi stated that while he will find different ways to promote his films and survive, the media industry might collapse. During the interaction he criticised film reviewers and critics that claimed MAD Square was not as good as its first installment. He went on to point out how some journalists claimed that the film only succeeded at the box office because its competition, Robinhood, failed to impress the audience.
He questioned whether the audience knows what they like or don’t like, do the reports know. Naga added the websites and YouTube channels continue to run because the entertainment industry provided them with “content and interviews.” “We provide ads too, so try not to kill cinema, because you exist because of this industry,” he slammed them.

When a few media personnels retorted by mentioning that actors or a cast of a film only give interviews as they want to promote their project, he challenged them to ban his film. Quoted by the Free Press Journal, he said, “I dare you to ban me. Ban me and my films, don’t review them, and don’t take my ads. Let’s see how it works then.” “I’ll still find a way to promote my films; I’ll take on that headache. But how will you run? You exist because of the industry,” he concluded.
Vamsi even urged the audiences to not take reviews seriously as they are just personal opinions. He shared that those are not “election results” where majority opinion counts. He said, “If a man fights with his wife at home and gives a bad review because of that, it’s no surprise. Don’t believe reviews. Everyone liked Lucky Baskhar, but reviewers didn’t praise it.”
