Actress, entrepreneur, and new mom Deepika Padukone has been making the headlines these days for all the right reasons. After staying away from the limelight during her pregnancy, she returned a few weeks back looking stunning and glowing. As she continues to enjoy motherhood and raising her daughter Dua Padukone Singh, she found herself in the midst of a controversy after her removal from Sandeep Reddy Vanga directorial Spirit.
As the controversy slowly unfolds, leaving netizens eager to know what will happen next, Deepika has found unexpected support from actress Tamannaah Bhatia. Recently, a clip of the 38-year-old actress from an old media interaction went viral on Instagram. In the clip, which is from a press conference for Chhapaak in 2020, she is seen clarifying that she has used her own money as a film producer and not her husband Ranveer Singh’s.
For those who don’t know, the Meghna Gulzar directorial was not only headlined by Deepika but also produced. During the press conference, a journalist had hinted that her husband is also the producer through association, since they are married. However, she went on to clarify that she has used her own hard-earned money. She is heard saying, “Excuse me, yeh mere khud ke paise hain. Kisne bola yeh? Yeh meri khud ki mehnat hai.”
The video was shared by Padukone’s fanpage on Instagram, with the text, “Propaganda she is not falling for: Disrespect, men, sexism, gender pay gap, working overtime, unprofessionalism, misogyny, and double standards.” As soon as the post was published, Bhatia reacted by linking it, extending her support towards the Piku actress.
Talking about the ongoing controversy, various media reports claimed that the 43-year-old filmmaker had removed Deepika from Spirit due to her “unprofessional” behaviour and demands. Her demands, being a new mother, reportedly included an eight-hour workday, asking for a hefty remuneration along with a percentage of the film’s profit. This frustrated Vanga to the point that he decided to part ways with her and remove her from the project. After this, Triptii Dimri was taken on board for the film.

While, there have been quite a few media reports mudslinging on both the actresses and scrutinising their till-date works and the kind of roles they have played, the Animal director’s tweet, caused an uproar on social media after he slammed the actress for “playing dirty PR” games and leaking the story of his film. This led to the internet calling him out for badmouthing an actress.
On the work front, Deepika Padukone was last seen in Jawan and Kalki 2898 AD. While she is yet to announce her next projects, it is reported that she will soon be working on the sequel of Kalki 2898 AD. She also might have another cameo in Love & War as well as King. With this new speculation, her fans are eagerly waiting for an update on her next acting project.
