Shubman Gill’s Viral Post Post-RCB Win; Fans Spot Possible Virat Kohli Reference

After Gujarat Titans (GT) claimed an impressive eight-wicket victory over Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on Wednesday, captain Shubman Gill left fans curious with a cryptic post on social media. The young batter shared just seven words on X (formerly Twitter): “Eyes on the game, not the noise.” Though he didn’t offer any further explanation, many speculated that the “noise” he mentioned might refer to the fiery celebrations of Virat Kohli after his dismissal earlier in the game, which caught the attention of fans and the media.

This win added to the growing confidence of GT, who have been performing exceptionally well this season. Following two stunning away victories against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Gujarat continued their momentum with a clinical display against RCB. While RCB had high hopes for their home run, the heavy defeat left them with much to ponder.

In this match, GT won the toss and opted to field first. RCB’s batting was immediately under pressure as Mohammed Siraj, a former RCB player, made an early impact, taking 3/19 and reducing RCB to a difficult 42/4. Despite a 52-run partnership between Liam Livingstone and Jitesh Sharma (who scored 33 off 20 balls with five fours and a six), RCB struggled to get going. Livingstone’s 54 off 40 balls (including a boundary and five sixes) and Tim David’s 32 off 18 balls (three fours and two sixes) provided some fight, but RCB could only post 169/8 in their 20 overs. GT’s bowlers, including Sai Kishore (2/22) and Prasidh Krishna (1/26), made sure RCB’s progress was stunted throughout.

In the run chase, GT lost their captain early as Shubman Gill was dismissed for just 14 runs. But Jos Buttler took control with a brilliant 73 off 39 balls, smashing five fours and six sixes. Sai Sudharsan supported well with 49 off 36 balls (seven fours and a six), and Sherfane Rutherford added a quickfire 30 off 18 balls (one four and three sixes). The chase was completed comfortably, with GT reaching their target in just 17.5 overs, with eight wickets in hand.

Gill’s post-match reflections shifted the focus back to the team’s collective effort rather than individual distractions. He praised his bowlers, especially for their early breakthroughs, which he believed set the tone for the match. His post-match comments reinforced the mentality of staying focused on the game and avoiding external noise. As the season unfolds, Gujarat Titans look set to maintain their impressive form, with Shubman Gill leading the charge both with bat and as captain.
